Research Services
At Irish Ancestry Research, we carry out all the usual professional genealogy services such as compiling detailed Family Trees or retrieving specified Vital Records that may be missing from your family history file. However, we regularly get asked to provide services which reflect the more recent advances in ancestry research. These services might involve being appointed as an Editor for your online or electronic Family Tree wherein we can check, correct and expand your ancestral lineages, uploading additional research verification documents and source citations as we progress. If you use the "new" Ancestry.com websites, then we can oversee and write each of your ancestors' Life Stories. We also offer to review Ancestry DNA database matches, and we attempt to validate your relationship to distant cousins identified via similarities in DNA make-up.
We have access to worldwide databases containing rarer genealogical data, and we always search these resources (where relevant) for mentions of your specific ancestors of interest. These electronic repositories do not contain just records of birth, marriage and death [BMD]. We like to fill out the life story of each individual by searching for references to your ancestors in archived newspapers, court records, military service files, immigration & travel documents, census substitutes and more.

Irish Census SubstitutesWhilst most avid family historians are aware that all the priceless 19th century Irish census returns were destroyed in a fire during the civil war of 1922, it is wrong to believe that all 19th Irish census data was lost forever. Remnants of some census forms were duplicated and survived the fire at the Dublin Archives. For example, the Irish Pension Office retained transcripts of many 1841 and 1851 census returns, and the intact Griffith's Primary Valuation of Tenements is also invaluable for identifying the residences of your Irish ancestors during the mid-1800's.
Irish Parish RecordsIrish Ancestry Research has access to a fairly comprehensive collection of parish registers from Irish churches in every county of the island. Most historians know that our Irish ancestors predominantly followed the Roman Catholic faith, but other Christian denominations flourished as well. Regardless of your ancestor's religious beliefs, we can normally find a surviving (perhaps original) copy of a church record mentioning members of your ancestral family, especially for events which took place after 1800. Comparatively few 18th century parish registers were preserved, particularly in remote rural areas.

Irish Homestead MapsBy referring to early 19th century Tithe Applotment Books [TAB's}, Ordnance Survey records and Griffith's Valuation documents and maps, we are often able to verify the precise location of your Irish ancestral homesteads. When successful in this endeavour, we then offer to supply extracts of maps, old and new, which permit heritage visitors to literally walk in the footsteps of their forefathers. If you are unable to travel in person to Ireland, then our maps allow viewers to take a "virtual" stroll along remote but ancestrally relevant lanes of the Irish countryside using modern technology such as Google Street View.
Ancestry Reports & Family Tree ChartsRegardless of where your ancestors lived or relocated to around the world, Irish Ancestry Research has the tools to track them down. As such, we can compile Ancestry Reports that encompass records retrieved from several continents. On request, and in return for appropriate fees, we also offer to create colourful and unique Family Tree Charts which visually clarify how all your extended ancestral family is related. Chart image files are supplied electronically so that you can get a local High Street printing specialist to print off large-scale poster-sized images suitable for framing and wall-hanging.
